Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Gules, a scythe bend sinisterwise handle to chief, in chief a spearhead palewise Or.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "MOW EM DOWN" in Red letters.

Symbolism
The shield is colored red and gold, red being the color of artillery and yellow the color of artillery guidon markings.  The scythe alludes to the power of the organization to "mow em down," destroying all obstacles.  This instrument being the tool of the "Grim Reaper" aptly illustrates the functions of the unit.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 637th Tank Destroyer Battalion, Light (Towed) on 18 August 1942.  It was redesignated for the 637th Tank Battalion on 15 July 1947.  It was redesignated for the 137th Heavy Tank Battalion on 6 June 1949.  The insignia was redesignated for the 137th Armor Regiment on 3 January 1961.

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Ohio Army National Guard:  On a wreath of the colors Or and Gules, a sheaf of seventeen arrows Argent bound by a sprig of buckeye (Aesculus glabra) fructed Proper (two leaves with bursting burr).

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 637th Tank Destroyer Battalion, Light (Towed) on 5 September 1942.  It was redesignated for the 637th Tank Battalion on 15 July 1947.  It was redesignated for the 137th Heavy Tank Battalion on 1 June 1949.  The insignia was redesignated for the 137th Armor Regiment on 3 January 1961.
